Its my birthday week!

Hey Bloggin' Friends!

This THURSDAY is my BIRTHDAY.   So, do you know what I want MORE than ANYTHING for my birthday?

  100 FOLLOWERS of course:)

So, I want to have a little giveaway, but there is one little problem.  I want to make a cute little "button" or "banner" (not sure what it is actually called) for the birthday celebration/giveaway .  Yes, that's the problem!  I have purchased clip art and fonts, but can't figure out how to layer items in Microsoft Word. I know, DUH!  I am completely computer illiterate!  I almost threw my laptop across the room today!

I NEED HELP!!

Can someone point me into the right direction?  You can leave a comment here or email me any suggestions.  I would love to have the giveaway. Since you are here on my blog, you get a heads up.  HA!  I am preordering the new, FIREHOUSE RED (my favorite color!) pencil sharpener and there's an extra one on my order:)

COMING SOON! Firehouse Red

I would love to have the Birthday Giveaway posted before Thursday so if you are able to help, I would TOTALLY appreciate it.  The details on how to win will be coming soon so check back!

So here's to a great birthday week and figuring out making documents in Microsoft Word!

  1. The easiest way that I've found to layer is in Microsoft Powerpoint. MS Word is a little more difficult when it comes to graphics. In powerpoint you just click "insert a picture" and wherever your clipart is stored, you find & click on it & it pops up. Then you can resize it on the slide & just layer everything one on top of the other. I hope this may help. :)

  2. I agree - Powerpoint is much easier for layering. You can right click on an image and bring it forward, send it back a layer, etc. If you want to use Word, you can layer one image with text, but the formatting doesn't always work the way you want it to. When you right click, choose wrap text and you can see the different options. Good luck!

  3. Powerpoint all the way my friend! :) It automatically layers items and you can switch the layers around under the button that says Arrange or Order...I know it's hard to move from one program to another if you're not too comfortable with the new one but I promise once you see the ease of powerpoint- you won't want to go back!! :) If you still need help, I'd be happy to make the button logo fo you! Just email me :) thelearningtreeblog@gmail.com

  5. As others have said, Powerpoint is my preference too. It's super easy to add, move, layer all the graphics you want.

  6. If you decide not to use PowerPoint, all you have to do in MS Word is click on your picture or text box and in the format menu (or right click), click the wrap text button and whatever picture you have selected and put it wherever you need it. For example, the background picture would be behind text. A frame would be in front of text and then a text box would be in front of text. If you have to, you can bring an item forward or send an item backward, etc. if one is covering up another. I hope that makes sense! Feel free to email me if you have any questions while you're working on it.
