Five For Friday {5/3}

Happy Friday!  I am linking up with Kacey over at Doodlebugs Teaching with Five for Friday again.

Last weekend, I took the boys and headed to the beach with some friends after morning soccer games.  The weather was wonderful and the sun felt so good.  I remembered to lather up the kids all day, but wasn't so diligent with myself and boy was I burnt:(   Here is a super cute picture of Zach and his friends with Cheetos fingers!

We are trying to stay focused in school, but spring fever has hit my room HARD!  We are plugging away in Math on our shape unit.  We have used two and three dimensional shapes in so many lessons.  I had to take a step back and give some exploration time so my firsties were then able to focus on the lesson and not play with the manipulatives.

We are also working on timed math facts with sums to ten.  One of our math centers in Math facts.  We use One Minute Math Practice Pages in plastic sleeves.  The kids love using dry erase markers and a timer.  I love that this program introduces one new fast a week and incorporates 40% review.  I also introduced math wraps this week. The wraps provided a little more challenge manipulating the string to the correct sum.  As you can guess, some of them got it and this little one needs a little more practice:)

The rain here in Florida actually took a little break here in Florida on Wednesday for our field day. This is me and my fabulous first grade team.  The temperature was PERFECT.   It is usually hot and muggy.
Most importantly, my class won the tug of war!  Hooray:)

Today is the last day to enter my 300 follower giveaway!  Click on the picture below to head on to enter the giveaway!  Good luck:)

Have a great weekend...and hang on summer is right around the corner!

  1. I love field days. We do a school wide tug-a-war in PE but that is usually as far as field day goes. Glad the weather was nice for you! We have been soooo soggy where we are in FL. :)

  2. Our weather has been pretty awesome this week, too! I'm so glad I don't have windows in my room. I just pretend it's cold and rainy out there!!
