Organization-Part 1

I love organization and everything about it!  My problem is my mind is always turning and I am always trying to find something better:)

As I continue to make and buy resources off TpT, I found I needed a different way of organizing them .  I tried using ziplock baggies, but that didn't work FOR ME.  So I have moved onto manila folders and love them.  Most of my laminating I do at home (usually on a Sunday night...) for activities and pieces.  However, the larger manila enveloped don't fit through my laminator so I have them done at school.

I am lucky that we can have our laminating done at school.  The downside is the laminating is thinner than the thermal pouches I use and I have to be a week ahead.  We hand laminating in on Wednesdays. Our media specialist is fantastic at getting it back to us on Wednesday afternoons.  She is always so sweet and I totally appreciate all she does for me!

When all is said and done, they are stored in plastic magazine racks.  I have monthly units as well as skill units that are pulled as needed.  I started to add velcro dots, but it made the envelopes that much thicker.  I am thinking of double stick tape.  Thoughts?

  1. Great idea using envelopes. I'm still at the bag stage and its getting out of hand....

  2. I use manila envelopes to store everything too. Inside of the manila envelopes I do have a baggie that I use to store the pieces of whatever activity is inside. I don't use anything to keep mine closed. With enough pressing along the fold I think they stay closed enough. I would think that the tape would need to be replaced frequently as the students would be opening and closing the envelopes a lot. I need to store mine in the magazine tubs. They look SO organized and beautiful. :)

  3. Hi Tammy,
I found your blog from a comment you made on my blog a few weeks ago. I am so glad I checked it out because I was just thinking of trying a new organization method next year. I was thinking of storing my materials/Daily 5 materials in magazine tubs. The ones I thought of using were the plastic book bins from Really Good Stuff, but yours look more useful. Where did you get them?

Thanks for sharing!! I am now a follower of your blog!

  4. I already store my literacy centers and what not in manila folders but I LOVE the magazine holder idea! It will definitely keep my closet looking a lot less hectic, lol. I found you through Tamara's blog (don't you just love her!) and am so glad I did :o) I'm happy to be your newest follower!
