Five for Friday {Dec. 6th}

I am back in the swing of things (I think!) and linking with Doodle Bugs Teaching Five for Friday.

I can't believe we only have 2 weeks left of school until Christmas vacation!  Where did this week go?  Did Thanksgiving being so late in November throw anyone else for a loop?  Anywho...  I don't know what happened to my picture taking skills this week, but I promise to be more diligent in the weeks to come:)

We are working on telling time to the hour and half hour.  A few still struggle to tell time to the half hour accurately.  We have practiced with clocks, played matching games and completed worksheets for extra practice.  There are still a few firsties that are struggling with this so we will continue to practice over the next few weeks.

We took the boys to Sea World for the Christmas festivities and it was AMAZING!  I you have never been, the Nativity show is fabulous!  There are actually LIVE camels walking down the aisles!  I believe if you buy a ticket now, you can get 2014 for FREE!  Check out Sea World's deals:)

 We had our first field trip of the year to the Christmas Tree farm.  Our school is in such a cute little town we actually get to walk to the farm!  We ordered class shirts this year with the teachers' names on the back.  This makes it SUPER easy on a field trip to see where your class is!

We have a staff meeting once a month and each month a different team is responsible for the refreshments at "Snack N' Yak".  However, for the month of December we the Sunshine Committee hosts a cookie exchange for all those who want to participate.  I always make my childhood favorite, Bon Bon Cookies.  I love the Hershey Kiss in the middle:)

And last but not least, a peek into our reading notebooks.  We are reviewing nouns and working on verbs.  There is never a dull moment in first grade.  If  you haven't checked out  Deanna Jumps Interactive Reading Notebooks, they are a must have!

Don't forget to head over to Doodle Bugs Teaching to see what everyone else was up to this week!  She has the MOST ADORABLE Santa project!
